Cancer of the Appendix, Symptoms and Treatments

Symptoms of pseudomyxoma peritonei and appendix cancer could be similar such as inflated abdomen due to build up of fluid. Sometime, it is similar with appendicitis such as lack of appetite, nausea, constipation, diarrhea, and pain in lower right section of abdomen. To ensure whether it is cancer of the appendix, several tests may need to be performed such as ultrasound, CT Scan, MRI, radionucleotide scan, and biopsy. Once diagnosed, staging would be performed and treatment should be planned.

Treatment for appendix cancer is commonly combination of chemotherapy and surgery. First, the patient will treat with systemic chemotherapy to reduce the size of tumor. Why Cancer Research Is Important More Than National Boundaries

Why Cancer Research Is Important More Than National Boundaries

Why cancer research is important - Cancer researches have been carrying out worldwide with scientists from all over the world are sharing information and helping each other to understand cancer more. It is unquestionable why cancer research is important more than national boundaries. Saving human life is much more important than any geographical conflicts and races war. White skin or black skin, blonde or brunette, no matter what, the whole world needs to work hand in hand to understand cancer more. Only with that, we will find a way to fight cancer.

Why Cancer Research Is Important to Find Real Solution

Why Cancer Research Is Important

Cancer is very scary disease. It makes you agonize and take your live away. Unlike other disease, cancer is not one disease but hundreds of different diseases with distinctiveness and mystery of why it occurs, how it occurs, and how to deal with it. Until the very day, so many cancers are still unknown what the cause of it, who is high risk, and how to treat it. That is why cancer research is important. We need to know the causes of each type of cancer, the risk factors, the way to fight it in individual approaches, and save lives.

Research for cancer is not merely finding the perfect treatment to kill it. Cancer prevention and screening become imperative because prevention is so much better than treatment. With preventive action, we could prevent people from suffering and save more lives. If the research successful, we could prevent people from the torture of chemotherapy, the agony of radiation, and the high risk of surgery. That is another reason why cancer research is important. That is also the reason why we need to support cancer research without seeing at which country it takes place.

For decades, even for centuries, people have been suffering for mysterious deadly disease that could take life in very scary paces. It does not matter who you are, no one is free from the risk of cancer. Without research, we will not able to find the real solution for cancer. Hence, do not question why cancer research is important. As long as the research is legitimate, we need to give full support as we can.

Cancer of the Eye, Rare but could be Life Threatening

Cancer of the Eye, Rare but could be Life Threatening

Cancer of the eye is among the rarest type of cancer. Several types of cancer could occur in the eye area and affect the eye but the most common type is ocular melanoma eye cancer. Melanoma is a cancer that developed from melanocytes, cells that responsible for the color of the skin. Melanoma is actually most common in the skin but it may occur in the eye. Although very rare, cancer that developed in eye area could spread to other part of the body. In serious case, it could spread to distant organs such as lungs or liver and could be life threatening. For that reason, eye cancer should be treated early to prevent spreading and complication.

Cancer of the Eye

Risks, Symptoms, and Treatments of Cancer of the Eye

Due to rareness of eye cancer, the cause is still unknown and only limited risk factors could be defined. The possible risk factor of eye melanoma is long time and excessive exposure to ultraviolet. The UV could be from sunlight, sunbed, or sunlamp. Several studies also found possible link between cancer of the eye with atypical mole syndrome called dysplastic naevus syndrome. Melanoma may develop from existing mole in the conjunctiva and may develop from PAM (Primary Acquired Melanosis).

Usually, eye melanoma does not create any symptom. Melanoma is usually found by optician when performing routine test to the eye. Hence, it is important to have regular eye test to know whether you have melanoma develop in your eyes or not. Nevertheless, it is important to vigilant to any unusual condition in the eyes such as blurred vision, the feeling of seeing flashing lights, and seeing shadows. Then, you can also help early detection of cancer of the eye by doing self-exam on the eye. Search carefully for the possibility of dark or white patches of the eyes and the surrounding.

Treatment options for eye cancer are varied. The possible options are including radiotherapy, chemotherapy with eye drops, surgery, transpupillary thermotherapy, cryotherapy, and photodynamic therapy. Doctor may recommend one treatment or combination of treatments based on individual condition. To know how much the treatment work so far doctor may conduct several tests such as transillumination, color fundus photography, PET/CT Scan, and MRI. Those tests are also functional in helping the doctor to plan treatment for cancer of the eye.

Cancer of the Liver, the Malignant Disease

Cancer of the Liver, the Malignant Disease

Cancer of the liver is defined as uncontrollable grow of cells that invade liver and cause damages. Liver cancer is divided into two categories. The first category and general term of liver cancer is primary liver cancer when the cancers begin in the liver while the second is secondary cancer when the cancer begins elsewhere but spreading to the liver. Primary cancer is malignant tumor that consists of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), cholangiocarcinoma, and angiosarcoma. Primary liver cancer has lower incident than secondary liver cancer and occur more in men than in women.

Cancer Of The Liver

Liver cancer is like a silent killer because the symptom may not appear until the cancer grows and become advance. The common symptom of cancer of the liver are weakness, tiredness, weight loss, fever, pale bowel motions, yellowing skin and eyes, feeling sick, loss of appetite, severe pain of the abdomen, swelling of the upper right side of abdomen, and pain in the upper right side of abdomen. If you experience the symptoms, consultation to doctor is necessary. Doctor will do several tests to diagnose liver cancers, including blood test, ultrasound, CT Scan, MRI, PET-CT Scan, and biopsy.

After the diagnosis completed, treatment could be performed. Many treatments are available to fight cancer of the liver. Tumor ablation and chemotherapy are two common treatments for primary liver cancer while chemotherapy and surgery as the common treatments for secondary liver cancer. The other possible treatments are biological therapy, selective internal radiation therapy (SIRT), endoscopic stent placement, and palliative treatment. When condition of the liver is really bad, liver transplant is possible. However, it is hard to find suitable and eligible liver donor.

Preventing Cancer of the Liver

Primary liver cancer is mostly caused by hepatitis C and B infection. The other risk factors for the disease are liver scaring, genetic disorder, obesity, smoking, high alcohol consumption, diabetes type two, and exposure to certain chemicals. Preventing liver cancer could be done by reducing the risk factors. Since hepatitis is the biggest risk factors, vaccination is the most important way to prevent primary liver cancer. The other preventive action for cancer of the liver is living a healthy life by eating healthy foods, enough exercise, enough rest, avoiding alcohol, and stop smoking.

Then doctor will continue with several tests to confirm cancer of the stomach. First, doctor will give blood tests to look signs of cancer in the body. The other tests that might take place are upper endoscopy to see what inside the stomach, upper GI series test on X-rays with contrast, CT scan to get detail pictures of the inside of the stomach, and biopsy. For biopsy, doctor needs sample of tissue from stomach that commonly does during endoscopy.

After the diagnosis completed and doctor knows where the location of the cancer and how much it has spread, treatment plan would be made. Many treatments can fight cancer of the stomach and the options are surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, chemo radiation (mix of chemotherapy and radiation), and targeted drugs. Cancer of the Spine, the Mysterious One

Cancer of the Spine, the Mysterious One

Cancer of the spine is the type of cancer, which the causes are largely unknown. Although scientists found that genetic conditions, may contribute the occurring of tumor in spinal column, they still not able to define most of the actual causes and risk factors of spinal cancer. Few risk factors defined are prior history of cancer (including the cancer may spreading to the spine), compromised immune system, hereditary disorders (including neurofibromatosis and Von Hippel-Lindau disease), and exposure to radiation or industrial chemicals.

Cancer Of The Spine

Symptoms of spinal cancer may not noticeable until the cancer grows to the late stage. It develops slowly for years. In different times, the symptoms develop very quickly even within days. The most noticeable symptom when tumor occurs and pushing nerve ending or causing instability in the spine is pain. The tumor may also push the spine and disturb the lining to cause posture change such as hunchback. When cancer of the spine grows strong until it presses the spinal cord, the noticeable signs could be tingling in hand and feet or numbness. When it develops, the symptom may grow into clumsiness, weakness, and even paralysis. It would be hard to do many things, even  urination and bowel activities.

Once the team confirms cancer of the spine and made accurate diagnosis of where, what, and how much the tumor has grow, the treatment plan would be made.

Treatment plan would be tailor made based on individual approach due to complexities of the cancer. The choices of advanced medical treatment for cancer of the spine are including surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, interventional radiology, and targeted therapy. The last one is the newer therapy, which targeted the tumors while minimizing side effects. Along with the treatment, the team will also prepare pain management and rehabilitation to preserve mobility and cognitive skills.
